JOB GOAL / PURPOSE :
This/These person/people is/are responsible for the management of the overall program of ES Visual Arts in the school. The position requires specialized teaching of art and art appreciation across grades EY-5 during the school day and coordinating with other teachers to promote and support Elementary School co-curricular ensembles.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITES :
Program Delivery and Development
Teach appropriate elementary classes as designated by the Principal in ES
Be responsible for the overall VA program and articulated curriculum in the ES at ISB, working in collaboration with other teachers of the groups in the program
Promote and provide support for art after school activities for ES students
Prepare and present designated visual arts events in the school calendar in conjunction with other members of the Visual Arts Department as appropriate
Coordinate the program for the yearly CASTA event and other events as appropriate
Order appropriate materials for the ES program within the department budget to develop and enhance student learning
Oversee the upkeep of the VA inventories in collaboration with team members
Collaborate to order replacements and the upkeep of equipment in the inventory
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum 2 years of full-time visual arts teaching experience
Minimum Bachelor’s degree and current teaching certification
Knowledge of operation of ES Visual Arts programs
Knowledge of comparative ES programs in other international schools
Ability to work with different divisions and multi-age grouping arrangements
Good communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
Ability to interpret and follow departmental policies and procedures
Experience teaching both lower and upper elementary school students preferable but not essential
A passion to support language learners by implementing research-based practices into Visual Arts lessons.
